I Dream of Beauty
I dream
Of a woman greater than I
Who brings dynasties to ruin
With a flutter of eyelashes;
A woman who conquers
The nemesis of another
With a yawn;
A lady who plucks vitality
From herself and saves a dying man
With a single tear:
She sighs—
Hearts break.
She extends her hand—
An empire crumbles.
She raises a finger—
A deadly host collapses.
She sighs,
And all sigh with her.
None but the bitter
Can stand tall in the face of
A great and terrible Beauty,
Which darkness my dreams.
